It is with great sadness that we have been asked to announce that George Hayward recently passed away.

George was a mammoth figure in the promotional merchandise industry and will be warmly remembered by many in the trade.

Although retired for several years, George was a massive character that will never be forgotten.

Not only was he the founder of PAGE, now led by his son Brian, he had also been a long-term chairman of BAGDA, the highest profile trade organisation at the time.

George lived life to the full, he had an abundant sense of humour, sagely wisdom and forthright pragmatic views. He was fond of quality food, a good cigar and glass of fine brandy. Many will have enjoyed laughter as well as deep discussions with George over the years, and the twinkle in his eye was a sign to his kind character.

Golf was one of his passions, as was ‘real tennis’, both of which he played with vigour for many years.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Christine, son Brian and daughter Julia, as well as his wider family, and many friends in both the trade and sports.

Funeral details have not yet been announced, however it is understood that George has left specific instructions as far as to the arrangements.
