Together we saved 34,5 million litres of water in 2022
We become more and more conscious when it comes to water consumption. We close the tap when we brush our teeth and take shorter showers. However, hardly anyone realises that it takes fascinating amounts of water to create the clothes on our backs. In fact, some believe it would take more than 520 years to drink all the water hidden in our closets. For example, it takes about 2 720 liters of water to make just one t-shirt. This is enough water for one person to drink for 900 days. Here are some other interesting observations – it takes:
- 7,250 litres of water to produce one pair of jeans;
- 375 litres of water to produce one pair of socks;
- 3,350 litres of water to produce one hoodie or sweatshirt;
- 850 litres of water to produce one pair of pants or boxers.
The average person has 5 pairs of jeans, 7 hoodies or sweatshirts, and 10 t-shirts or shirts. Plus, our drawers are packed with 34 pairs of underwear and 22 pairs of socks.
