BIC Graphic Europe have announced changes to the BIC 4 Colours ballpen that will significantly reduce the amount of plastic needed for its production.
BIC have invested in new moulds for the clip and pushers, reducing the weight of the upper part of the pen by 13.1%, which in total means 44 tons less plastics and colorants per year.
The BIC 4 Colours has remained largely unchanged since it’s launch over 50 years ago, but fans of the iconic ballpen – many since their childhood – need not worry. The overall look, quality and functionality of the pen is unchanged, and the BIC 4 Colours will still be manufactured in BIC factories in France, so consumers can continue to enjoy the European-made product that they know and love.
The transition to the new upper section will take place over the coming weeks and months, with samples available to order in the near future.
