The BPMA is part of several end-user facing groups and bodies to further the effectiveness of promotional merchandise and promote the industry. As part of The Debating Group, the BPMA takes up the next debate on Tuesday 28th March in the House of Commons, Westminster.

Joined with several other marketing organisations including the Advertising Association, Data and Marketing Association, IPIA, CIM and others, each organisation holds debates on topics of their choice in this famous political setting.

The BPMA is proposing the motion, “Promotional merchandise is the medium which forges the most effective and long-term emotional relationship with its audience” on the day, with speakers to propose and oppose the motion. Chaired by Baroness Amanda Sater JP, herself once a marketing director and all-round sales promotion and marketing guru, this lively debate still has tickets available for the night.

The Debate

We know that merchandise in any marketing campaign whether B2B or B2C works. With the belief effective communication must connect emotionally with the audience; promotional merchandise is the medium which can deliver in a long lasting, effective and impactful way. Setting out to prove the point and proposing the motion are the BPMA’s Carey Trevill conducting opening speeches, supported by Ollie Gilmour, Group Planning Director of advertising agency, VCCP who are responsible for famous ad campaigns including Compare the Market, 02, Cadbury and more. Opposing the motion is experienced brand strategist, Tony Spong of the AAR who advises brands and agencies. Supporting Tony is Alana Ballantyne, Planning Director at VCCP.

Open to all

Anyone with an interest in the topic can attend the debate and already booked are over 40 promotional merchandise industry professionals, marketers, brands and agencies so this is also a great chance to network with your peers.
