We have heard from a distributor who has been scammed for an order worth a significant amount of money.

An order was placed by a person claiming to be from Hertfordshire University. He used the email address: procurement@hert-ac.uk. (This email address is just one letter different from the correct one.) The scammer fraudulently used the name of the person who is genuinely the Head of Procurement at the university, but who has no knowledge of the orders placed.

A legitimate looking Purchase Order is supplied with artwork and pantone colour etc. and unusually the orders are for PRINTED merchandise using the UH part of the Hertfordshire University logo. The goods are then delivered to what appears to be a legitimate warehouse. (Which it transpires has no connection with the person ordering.)

On further investigation the merchandise supplied was seen being sold on a website in Africa which also featured other branded promotional merchandise.
